On November 29, 2023, the CIFAR Alliance hosted an Open Roundtable event with the wider climate innovation community to present the CIFAR Alliance's evolution, growth, and results for 2023, primarily focusing on our upcoming participation in COP28. The discussions revolved around:

The CIFAR Alliance will be actively involved in various events at COP 28.

The Climate Smart Innovation Hub

• The Hub has built a unique group of thought leaders in a space gaining rapid attention, allowing for critical conversations

• The Climate Smart Innovation Hub has produced knowledge products that fill information gaps that are of interest to accelerators, incubators, and entrepreneurs

• The Climate Smart Innovation Hub Gallery of Products, a space bringing together various digital climate solutions, has been presented at climate regional events, showcasing (74) startups

• There is limited understanding of potentially sustainable business models that combine financial services and climate adaptation

• Existing climate-smart products focus on managing risk rather than promoting opportunities

We recently launched two new TECA waves to partner with individuals who are passionate about launching tech ventures for climate resilience.

Universal Climate Resilience

• The UCR initiative looks at resilience beyond financial aid, leveraging data & AI to anticipate needs, educate and support affected communities

• UCR is developing a platform that will serve as the financial backbone for the creation of more resilient communities globally.
